Mental strength means more than just optimising performance. The workshop with musician and Iyengar yoga teacher Ivo Prato teaches holistic strategies for dealing with stress and blockages. The workshop is being held in collaboration with SONART and Musikbüro Basel.

What happens when piano and electronics meet on equal footing in terms of sound? When they alternate nimbly between accompaniment, solo moments and fusion? «What's the Sound of a Dream?» is composed ambient music for critical dreamers, for listeners who dare to lose themselves in thought, even at the risk of bumping their heads.

As part of the lecture series «Ein Haus...», Basel artist Jan Hostettler talks about his interventions in historic buildings. With projects such as «Pont», a bridge pier in the River Emme, he transforms existing structures, places them in new contexts and critically and humorously questions planning and construction processes.

On this evening, film and sound meet: in collaboration with the «Institute for Incoherent Cinematography», a series of silent films will be accompanied live by students. The film selection is curated by Pablo Assandri, while students from the classes of Svetlana Maraš and Andrea Neumann provide the musical realisation.

In «phantom bands», Rama Gottfried and the latenz ensemble create new, non-human musical theatre ecosystems. Punk-inspired object theatre meets technically sophisticated live cinema, paired with an ensemble that fluidly changes its physical and sonic state of aggregation.

In «Sur|Real – Between One and Many», Nuriia Khasenova presents a cheerful dystopian musical theatre piece about the absurd fusion of humans and mobile phones. Dmitry Batalov impresses with his virtuoso piano playing, from Miharu Ogura's brilliant «Rifrazione» to works that musically reflect events in our world.
