National Zukunftstag

On National Future Day, you will discover Gare du Nord as a production and performance venue for contemporary music and get an insight into one of Basel’s vibrant cultural institutions. In the listed former first- and second-class buffet rooms of the Badischer Bahnhof, you will learn about the wide range of professions in the music and events sector and take a look behind the scenes of a cultural venue.

The programme includes a music workshop with percussionist and drummer Annik Fonseca Aranda. Together, you will explore the world of rhythms and sounds and discover how to use your own body as a musical instrument. Using body percussion and Boomwhackers, you will develop your own grooves and combine them to create a song together.

You will also attend a rehearsal of «Hidden Heartache – a music theatre piece in body language» by ox&öl and experience how a music theatre production takes shape on stage. During a technical tour of the venue, you will learn about the technology that is essential for a performance and get the chance to try out the lighting desk yourself.

Participation requirements: Girls in Years 5–7 (primary and lower secondary school).
