«Hear It Coming»

«The future belongs to those who hear it coming» – this quote by David Bowie was the starting point and source of inspiration for «Hear it Coming». The evening unfolds as a spatial musical sculpture composed of people, instruments, speakers, and light. Songs, instrumental passages, and sound phenomena flow seamlessly into one another. The piece moves between the immediacy of the human voice and the emergence of acoustic entities, combining elements of a concert, a sound installation, and a collective listening ritual.

There is no single «optimal» listening spot. A speaker system suspended above the audience’s heads transforms the musicians’ sounds and movements into a constantly shifting soundscape.

In «Hear it Coming», the individual is shifted out of the center of perception. The focus is on an intense collective listening experience, a recalibration of the senses. The six songs that structure the work unfold a posthumanist narrative about restlessness and vigilance, about cycles of time, and the connections between humans, technology, and nature.
