Inspired by the role of women in early digital computing, «Kilogirl» unites the ensembles Batida and Lemniscate through the composition «kil0Girl$», co-composed by Ensemble Batida and Antye Greie-Ripatti in 2021. New works by Asia Ahmetjanova and Fernando Manassero also offer unique perspectives on pioneering figures and technology.

Ensemble Nikel's «Sonic Leak» programme presents three perspectives on the ensemble's sonic potential. With Swiss premieres by Elena Rykova and Huihui Cheng as well as a world premiere of Bekah Simm's new composition for quartet and electronics, the concert offers exciting musical discoveries.

As part of the Basel Region Dance Festival, the final of the Eurovision Song Contest will be shown live on a big screen in the concert hall on 17 May from 20:00. Admission is free.

«Co-productions»

This time, the «Ein Haus» lectures will focus on residential buildings that are created in cooperation between architects and highly specific clients. The dialogue-based events focus on the development process, about which architects and co-producers report from their respective perspectives. The selected projects address issues of affordability and the careful use of resources in challenging locations.

The composers, instrumentalists and performers Lukas Huber, Marianne Schuppe and Alice Belugou have been working selectively on pieces since 2023, which will be combined into a kind of live radio play/opera/album in 2025. They communicate and make music live with each other as well as with past manifestations of themselves - and other people.

«Ubu enchaîné» (Ubu in Chains), a pataphysical play by the French symbolist Albert Jarry, leads us through the programme with its five acts. Many of the short pieces, partly aleatoric, partly improvised, partly music-theatrical in nature, become a kind of fragmentary theatre music and the musicians themselves become semi-staged characters.

Every Friday, «duoplus» with Peter Schärli and Sylwia Zytynska invites a guest to a 45-minute concert. This is followed by an aperitif with informal conversation in the Bar du Nord. In May, saxophonist and bassoonist Sandra Weiss is invited to join the duo.
