In «phantom bands», Rama Gottfried joins forces with the latenz ensemble to create new, non-human musical theatre ecosystems. These are inhabited by creatures that appear and act in vague punk-like yet fluidly sophisticated technical subcultures. Situated between object theatre and live cinema, the ensemble is constantly transforming, both physically and sonically, embodying beings that speak with hybrid, digital-acoustic voices. A multitude of sounds, puppetry, videos and instrumental materials interweave several of Gottfried's animistic-ecological pieces: the computer vision puppet show Scenes from the Plastisphere», live foley excerpts from «Onotopoiesis» and the world premiere of «phantom bands», composed for the latenz ensemble. The performance sees itself as an experimental method of non-human character relations. The audience enters a new society with other life forms, contexts and environments that unfold endlessly into new possibilities of form and experience.
