Ensemble Proton Bern © Remo Ubezio
What if a piece of music depended on the people it was played for? What if there were different sounds depending on who was listening and what mood that person was in at the time?
For «Protonwerk No. 12 – true participation», the Ensemble Proton Bern has sought compositional and performance concepts that rethink the role of the «listener». Six works by young composers can now be experienced in which the audience becomes an essential part of the performance - a concert as a place of genuine community of performers and listeners.
«Protonwerk» is a platform for contemporary music created by the «Ensemble Proton Bern». Composers at the beginning of their careers can apply once a year to receive a commissioned composition for one of the annual «Protonwerk» concerts. The composition process is accompanied by the musicians of the ensemble.
