«Come as you are!» – is a surprise format between experimental sounds, contemporary, improvised and instrumental music and art. «Come as you are» is the motto, and it applies to our audience as much as it does to our artists.
On this evening, Gare du Nord, in collaboration with «Jimba» (Jam of Improvised Music in Basel), is organising an evening dedicated to improvised music. The programme includes a concert by Emily Adomah, Marina Mello and Philipp Eden, followed by an open jam session. The session consists of several short sets in which anyone who is brave enough to contribute musically – whether with an instrument or their voice – is welcome to join in.
Emily Adomah – Voice
Emily Adomah is a singer, composer and producer working in the fields of improvisation, contemporary music and electronic sound. Her work focuses on spontaneous creation, extended vocal techniques and the interplay between acoustic and electronic media.
Marina Mello – Harp
Marina Mello is a harpist who lives in Zurich and Berlin. From bittersweet whale songs to destructive, unsettling and disturbing noise provocations, she explores, questions and transcends the musical boundaries of her instrument.
Philipp Eden – Piano
Philipp Eden is a pianist, improviser and sound artist based in Basel. He works in various fields at the intersection of improvised, experimental and electroacoustic music – mainly on (prepared) piano, synthesizers and electronics.
