Farewell event after 12 years of «Dialog»

After twelve years of intensive curatorial work, Marcus Weiss bids farewell to the «Dialog» series at Gare du Nord with this evening. As a soloist, he performs with numerous European orchestras and ensembles. As a chamber musician, he performs with the Trio Accanto and the saxophone ensemble Xasax Paris. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous composers who have written works especially for him, including Mark Andre, Georges Aperghis, John Cage, Péter Eötvös, Beat Furrer, Vinko Globokar, Georg Friedrich Haas, Toshio Hosokawa, Yu Kuwabara, Hanspeter Kyburz, Helmut Lachenmann, Misato Mochizuki, Giorgio Netti, Stefan Prins, Rebecca Saunders, Salvatore Sciarrino, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Nadir Vassena.
In 2010, Bärenreiter Verlag published his specialist book «The Techniques of Saxophone Playing».
Marcus Weiss has been Professor of Saxophone and Chamber Music at the University of Music in Basel since 1995. He heads the Master's programme in Specialised Performance, Contemporary Music, which he designed together with his colleagues Sarah Maria Sun, Yaron Deutsch and Mike Svoboda.
