A soap bubble suspended in the air. No pressure, and yet all the pressure at once. Hovering between what sustains and overwhelms us, beneath water and above atmosphere.
In her master's recital, Emily Adomah presents experimental pop songs written over several years. Shaped by authenticity, curiosity and playfulness, the music unfolds as a personal performance featuring voice, live electronics and sampling. Accompanied by her small ensemble — Barbora Jirásková on violin and voice, and Dae Bryant on drums — Emily traces her recent musical and emotional journey.
«Below and Above Air» is a statement about music and life being extensions of one another. There is no clear separation between the two, as neither can exist without the other. The result is an intimate narration of personal experience: fragile, direct and alive.
As part of «ATTACCA – Festival for Contemporary Music» by the University of Music FHNW Basel – students from the departments of Audio Design, Composition, Open Creation, and Contemporary Music present their current artistic projects. The programme features original compositions, performances, improvisations, and works by contemporary composers. Concerts take place over several days in varying formats and line-ups.
