«I Dreamt of Fire» is an immersive audiovisual performance that takes a special look at an everyday situation. Set in the bureaucratic world of waiting rooms, the work invites the audience to enter this space, pause and reflect: Where are we right now – in this hour, this minute, this second – both as individuals and as a collective species? In doing so, our sensory perception of these phenomena and the accompanying anxiety is heightened.
The performance combines a soundscape of anxiety and tension with oscillating visual explorations of bureaucratic waiting scenes. The audience is thus transported to a time and space where fear, envy, anger and unrest become palpable, only to be ultimately accepted and overcome through collective experience and understanding.
