How much power does woman have over her own narrative and our gaze in a thoroughly mediatised world?
Martin Bashir's iconic BBC interview with the Princess of Wales serves as source material to confront the complex relationships of media power and self-empowerment, public and private, politics and emotion from a contemporary feminist perspective. Diana has long since been replaced by self-proclaimed Instagram princesses and the paparazzi by trolls and shitstorms. The myth of Diana, however, remains exemplary of the systematic act of revenge against women who dare to speak out in public.
In a multimedia sound space for voice and electronics, the exceptional soprano Sarah Maria Sun is at the centre of the evening, using her voice to create a cosmos that explores the unspoken and the contemporary context of the interview.
