Open Call – «I’m all ears»
«Sonic Boom» ist ein zweijähriges Förderprogramm des Gare du Nord für Nachwuchs-künstler:innen im Spannungsfeld von experimenteller und zeitgenössischer Musik, Soundperformance und Musiktheater.
Gare du Nord's new artist-in-residence format, «Sonic Boom», offers eight artists a platform for artistic development. As part of the program, they will each conceive and present two Cartes Blanches over the course of two years. The selected artists receive a project contribution (see below), professional supervision and coaching on content-related and practical issues and are supported in the genesis of the project.
A central component of «Sonic Boom» is the collective idea. A varied accompanying program with moderated concert visits, discourse formats and improv sessions creates space for exchange, encounters and mutual inspiration between the participants.
«Sonic Boom» will take place from January 2026 to December 2027. The eight artists will be selected by a five-member jury of experts.

- Conditions of participation
Applications are open to individual artists or collectives residing in Switzerland with a proven artistic practice in one of the following fields: contemporary music, experimental music, music theater or sound-based performance.
The realization of two full-length concert formats (Carte Blanche formats), participation in the final festival with an artistic contribution and active participation in the discourse and exchange formats offered are mandatory.
- Contributions to the artists
- Two project contributions of CHF 7,000 each for the implementation of the Carte Blanche formats
- CHF 1,000 contribution towards expenses for participation in the final festival
- Support in artistic, organizational and technical production issues
