Four quirky characters hatch one after the other from a giant egg and finally a large black grand piano emerges. Curious the newly hatched creatures explore the world around them. Fearless they examine the mysterious instrument from every angle, playfully creating music unlike anything heard before.
Here the grand piano is not a solo instrument on which one must practise alone for hours on end. It becomes a place of encounter and shared music-making: two pianists and two percussionists discover the instrument from new perspectives. The grand piano is by turns a keyboard instrument, a plucked instrument, and sometimes even a drum kit, taking the audience on an entertaining journey of discovery through the music of the 20th and 21st centuries.
