Sonic Boom – Phoebe Bognár

«Sonic Boom» is the Gare du Nord's new Artist-in-Residence programme. Eight emerging artists from the fields of contemporary and experimental music, sound performance and music theatre are given space and support for their artistic development.
Over a period of two years, they will each create and present two Cartes Blanches in which they can express their individual artistic approaches. The programme is accompanied by a discourse and mentoring format.

«skin» is a performance about physicality(ies) and the relationship to the wider world – to other bodies, to space and objects – in the course of lived time. On its journey through memories, «skin» touches on themes such as trauma, posthumanism, resistance and fluidity of form.

«skin» is a linear, lived work that breathes: a work with flaws and wrinkles, ambitions and fears, highs and lows. Performer Phoebe Bognár explores different surfaces of this work together with composer Sasha Katsalap and multimedia artist Katherine Newton. The performance is a collective creation, born out of an exploration of the spectrum and diverse meanings of «physicality».

Through sound and image, the collective transforms the acoustic and physical space into bodies that undergo a metamorphosis through the performance.
