Ensemble Nikel © Amit Elkayam
In short, Nikel offers his audience a prism through which they can experience the crucial question that every ensemble must ask itself sooner or later: «What about now?»
To explore this question, the programme brings together three new works from the recently developed repertoire, painting a vivid panorama of the soundscapes and artistic figures that Nikel is currently engaged with.
At the centre is the encounter between acoustic and electronic sound sources, the friction between analogue and digital means, and their implementation in the composers' different aesthetic styles. This is presented in works by Lisa Illean (premiered at the Paris d'Automne festival), Christopher Trapani (premiered at the NYC Time:Spans festival) and a world premiere by Tobias Krebs.
Ensemble Nikel: Brian Archinal (percussion); Yaron Deutsch (electric guitar); Antoine Françoise (keyboard); Patrick Stadler (saxofone); Jonas Prina (Toningenieur)
Lisa Ilean (*1982): «Tiding III» (2025)
Tobias Krebs (*1993): New Work (2026, WP)
Christopher Trapani (*1980): «Sunk 45s» (2025) For saxophone, electric guitar, Korg organ and percussion
The concert will be followed by a discussion with the audience.
