The fifth edition of the Basel-based post-genre festival «PROJECT AGORA» will take place from 17 to 19 April 2026. The festival is a platform that facilitates dialogue between people of different backgrounds through music and broadens their perceptions through new acoustic experiences. Each concert in the festival is a collaboration between artists and ensembles of different styles, premiering at the festival.
Nik Baertsch is a Swiss pianist, composer, bandleader, record producer and author based in Zürich. His work is at the intersection of contemporary music, jazz and funk influences. For this concert, he has received a commission by PROJECT AGORA to write music for the Nadeshiko Choir. Founded in 2011 and conducted by Akira Tachikawa, the choir is a Japanese women's ensemble. Its aim is to bring Japanese songs closer to people from Western cultures.
