Case Design's Avasara Academy is nestled in a hilly cultural landscape on the outskirts of a town aptly named Knowledge City. Avasara means ‘opportunity’ – and this is precisely what this secondary school offers young women through education, regardless of their origin, social status, caste, religion or skin colour. Taking a respectful approach, Case Design draws on local typologies of residential, sacred and educational buildings and translates this attitude into architecture.
In close collaboration with the surrounding community, local craftsmen, engineers and artists, a place was created that conveys a sense of security and makes the students feel at home.
In addition to the social transformation that the project sets in motion, it also opens up new horizons in its architectural language, building services and approach to ecological sustainability.
«Ein Haus…» is a series of lectures in which buildings are presented in detail. This highlights the different perspectives of architects, clients, artists, users and others who influence the appearance and fate of the buildings. The focus of the presentations varies, ranging from urban planning premises to construction challenges, from historical references to social ambitions.
