Double or nothing: the winners of the national competition ‘Concours Nicati’ at Gare du Nord.
In «Sur|Real – Between One and Many», Nuriia Kshenova creates a cheerful dystopian musical theatre piece ‘en miniature’: an entertaining show about the absurd fusion of humans and mobile phones and the constraints of a technologised society.
In the second part of the evening, Dmitry Batalov captivates the audience with his virtuoso piano playing. With «Rifrazione», the central work of the evening, a brilliant piano epic penned by Japanese composer and pianist Miharu Ogura unfolds. Batalov contrasts this with two works that resonate tonally and performatively with world events – a programme that combines high-level classics of new music with brand-new works by young composers.
