Dialog

Sara Cubarsi explores how the synchronisation and desynchronisation of living matter reveals the fragility of the world we live in. She is particularly interested in how attempts to stabilise vibrations into a rational mood make this fragility visible.

Acoustic and immaterial processes of resonance are at the centre of her artistic interest, both as a violinist and as a composer. She experiments with gut strings, instruments with resonance strings (viola d'amore, Hardanger fiddle, tromba marina) and melted wax paintings. In doing so, she reflects on the materiality of tuning and seeks to avoid any separation of the sensual.

A conversation with the artist, moderated by saxophonist Marcus Weiss, rounds off the evening.
