«SILVER»

SILVER invites KlangLab to engage with metal objects and instruments developed by Yiran Zhao in a grammatically differentiated examination of the word «silver». She is interested in the various meanings that «silver» conveys as a noun, adjective and verb. In five parts, the composition explores the semantic richness of the word «silver» using various techniques: Sometimes the performers resort to meditative frequencies, which are transmitted to resonating silver foils using small loudspeaker membranes; then silvery timbres resound in instrumental and vocal sounds, unless humorous finger games and hand gestures drive the exploration of «silver» forward – an exploration that sometimes focuses attention on small metal objects as actors.
