Friendly Takeover 9 – Alicja Pilarczyk

«Corpuscle»

In 1942, a couple went up the mountains to look after the herd of cows, but they never returned. Their bodies were only found in the summer of 2017. The story of Marcelline, their youngest daughter, intertwines with the story of Alicja - a story of the unexpected loss of her father, which until today seems unreal.

The spirits of people we lost come back in the form of images, melodies, sounds, particles of feelings, shapes of objects - the corpuscles of memory. Losing a parent, especially for a young person, means rebuilding life, changing one's own internal role, reformulating needs. The dialog between Alicja and Marcelline will lead through a universe of stories sometimes very vivid, disturbing, funny, and sometimes distorted by time and personal filters. It turns out that death can have several shades. That it doesn’t always have to be black.

The performance was created thanks to the courtesy of Ms Marcelline Udry-Dumoulin.

It is also partly based on a research trip in Kenya, which Alicja and Emilia Łapko (photographer) led in February 2023. The result of the research is presented in the form of an exhibition in Bar du Nord.
