The Way of Truth

Bruitistic, experimental, psychedelic, unexpected and surprising: the programme «The Way of Truth» combines works from the 70s and 80s by David Bedford and Rolf Gehlhaar with two commissioned works by the Ensemble SoloVoices to the composers Karin Wetzel and Svetlana Maraš (UA, 2023).
Bedford has taken inspiration from rock and pop musicians in his work «The Way of Truth». Geelhaar compares his work in «Worldline» to «microsurgery». The sounds produced by the singers are transformed by simple electronic devices and distributed around the room by the sound technician. Inspired by Kafka's story «The Burrow», in which an animal figure in an underground facility perceives a sound that cannot be localised, Wetzel depicts the reciprocal relationship between the outside and the inside through the constellation of singers:inside (inside) - live electronics (outside). SoloVoices has invited the composer Maraš, co-director of the Electronic Studio Basel, to create a new work at the borders and intersections of language, sound and meaning.
