The contemporary and experimental music scene is highly dynamic. This leaves little time for an exploratory approach, for open-ended processes, and for engaging with one another without already having a finished result in mind. Through its artist residency IGNM Basel deliberately creates space for precisely this form of collaborative working.
The first edition, held in March 2026, brought together Martina Lussi, Tapiwa Svosve, Manuel Troller and Nora Vetter. Four artists from different fields of experimental music were given a week to explore, experiment and create something together. A year later, they are continuing their collaboration at the Gare du Nord. What emerges from this renewed encounter remains open-ended, entirely in keeping with the spirit of the residency.
