Der Wanderfalke

fringe ensemble

In this production, J. A. Baker’s «Der Wanderfalke» («The Peregrine») is paired with a musical form that is as precise as it is sensual: Frank Heuel and Daniel Ott condense this early masterpiece of nature writing into a format that blends reading and musical theater, in which the art of language and percussion merge into a shared sonic space.

In a magical blend of poetry and precision, the text tells the story of an obsession. Day after day, over many months, the author follows a peregrine falcon in southeastern England, driven by the desire to uncover the secret of its grace. Little by little, he himself becomes a falcon-like hunter who knows how to interpret the signs of the landscape.
Following the tension and rhythm of the text, Bettina Marugg and Caroline Scholz Ott bring it to life together with percussionists Vera Seedorf and Arturo Portugal.
