The concert «Drops» works with the musical and conceptual dimensions of the act of falling and the tension of gravity as an elementary, playful yet fundamental, sometimes violent force. All connected to the same idea, three pieces will be presented: «Häng Talui Ab» — for ensemble and shadow theatre; «For now, time is a duration of a thought» — for extended piano and electronics; and «Sustain, Release, Attack» — for five flutists, video, and electronics, a collaborative work with Daniel Fill.
Different objects will be dropped, exhibiting music fundamentals – anticipation, suspension and the tension between control and release.
As part of «ATTACCA – Closing festival: sonic space basel» at the FHNW Academy of Music in Basel, students from the fields of audio design, composition, open creation and contemporary music will present their current artistic projects. The programme includes original compositions, performances, improvisations and works by contemporary composers. The concerts will take place over several days in various formats and with different line-ups.
