Gare du Nord Summer Party

We are celebrating summer, sunshine and the end of the season, and warmly invite you to join us for the Summer Festival at Gare du Nord. A day for all ages, for those who already know the venue and for those discovering it for the first time. Together, we will spend the longest day of the year enjoying a diverse cultural programme.

Musical Programme
Musicians and sound artists from Basel's creative scene present a varied programme ranging from contemporary music and experimental sounds to ambient music and interdisciplinary performances.
The programme features live performances by Louisa Marxen, Marie Delprat and Janiv Oron. It also includes a performance for young audiences by gare des enfants, an ambient listening session with DJ Steinschlag, and the finissage of the exhibition «Sounds Nice».

Get involved
A range of hands-on activities awaits children and young people throughout the day. In a workshop led by «HitProducer», participants can explore the basics of electronic music production. A house rally invites visitors to discover the building playfully, button-making offers the chance to create small personalised artworks, and face painting transforms children into imaginative characters and creatures. Together with Quartiertreff Hirzbrunnen, kids can also create their own magic salt to take home.
Alongside the family programme, visitors can join a guided tour of the exhibition «Sounds Nice», take part in a music and culture pub quiz hosted by didi:offensiv, or learn the basics of coffee making in an in-house barista workshop.
Under the motto «Gare du Nord & Friends», a variety of partner organisations and cultural initiatives from Basel will present their work and current projects throughout the festival.

Food & Beverages
In the morning, the waffle bar offers freshly made waffles with a selection of sweet toppings to combine as desired. From midday onwards, the Fürstengarten will host a barbecue with meat, vegetarian options and a fresh salad buffet. Throughout the day, the Bar du Nord serves coffee and cake for those looking to take a break and relax.

The Summer Festival takes place from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Admission is free.
