The complexity of structures and building technology has been steadily increasing for decades. The ever-growing and almost unmanageable number of standards and building regulations is actually intended to ensure quality, but in practice this goal is often missed. Since 2012, the «Einfach Bauen» (Simple Building) association has been established at the Technical University of Munich – a network of architects and engineers who are promoting a countervailing development through research and teaching, thereby providing an important impetus for the construction industry. Using the example of three research houses in Bad Aibling, Florian Nagler and his team are investigating how ‘simple construction’ can be implemented in practice.
«Ein Haus…» is a series of lectures in which buildings are presented in detail. This highlights the different perspectives of architects, clients, artists, users and others who influence the appearance and fate of the buildings. The focus of the presentations varies, ranging from urban planning premises to construction challenges, from historical references to social ambitions.
