Sonic Boom – Phoebe Bognár

«Sonic Boom» is the Gare du Nord's new Artist-in-Residence programme. Eight emerging artists from the fields of contemporary and experimental music, sound performance and music theatre are given space and support for their artistic development.
Over a period of two years, they will each create and present two Cartes Blanches in which they can express their individual artistic approaches. The programme is accompanied by a discourse and mentoring format.

«skin» is a hybrid form of being– a collision; an invention; an installative reflection. Taking «skin» in its most literal anatomical sense, this work is an experience divided into threes: three layers, three approaches, three characters; augmented, subtracted; isolated and intertwined.

As part of their Sonic Boom Residency, performer Phoebe Bognár has gathered a cast of Basel-creatives to collaborate on a new work together: composer Sasha Katsalap, multimedia artist Katherine Newton, and costume designer Billie Madrigal Cartin. Speaking through their various mediums, they explore the topic of skin in relation to their artistic and personal experiences, and how a shared vision of «skin» could look like.
