Unterwegs nach Umbidu © zVg
On a cold, unpleasant evening, a handful of eccentric characters meet under a bridge. Clochards are not big talkers, and anyway, no one really knows where they are going. But somehow, the four loners sense that they can achieve something together. They realise that it is not just melancholy that connects them: one person has a trumpet, another an accordion, a third a clarinet and the fourth a full-grown double bass. With the help of music, they get to know each other's charming, funny sides and develop a plan: together they set out in search of the place where everyone is supposed to be happy – UMBIDU! With music by Bach, Purcell and Ligeti, freaky improvisations, delicate noises, wild sounds and a fascinating fantasy language, they recount their experiences on the way to Umbidu. A concert about dreaming, without any words.
The villains: Martin Schelling (clarinet), Stefan Dünser (trumpet/piccolo trumpet), Martin Deuring (double bass), Goran Kovačević (accordion); Sara Ostertag (concept/direction); Clara Schürle (assistant director); Christian Schlechter (Stage/Set Design)
