Friendly Takeover 10 – Special

Chloé Bieri, Marie Delprat, Andreas Eduardo Frank, Jannik Giger, Lukas Huber, Jeanne Larrouturou, João Pacheco, Alicja Pilarczyk, Stanislas Pili

After three years, the artists of the «Friendly Takeover» series are handing over the stage to the next generation - and saying goodbye with a big party. Together, they will perform in all the rooms of the Gare du Nord and invite the audience to performances, sound installations and film – before a final live DJ set leads to dancing into the night.

From 20:00, the audience will wander through the rooms of the Gare du Nord together and see various contributions from the artists, before the evening ends with a DJ set from around 22:30. The installation by Jeanne Larrouturou will be accessible from 19:00.

Program

Jeanne Larrouturou «Friendly Takeover: a sound piece»
«Friendly Takeover: a sound piece» is a sonic creation blending personal testimonies and musical archives, retracing three years of collective adventures. At the crossroads of documentary art and composition, this piece orchestrated by Jeanne Larrouturou offers a condensed and subjective glimpse into the concert series and the three-year journey of the ten artists involved.

Jannik Giger «Lamento»
««How does pop culture permeate our life? This question seems inevitable watching «Lamento» a romance in which a couple quarrel with the help of Micheal Jackson, Beyoncé and many others. Every move is meticulously choreographed in a space that is a replica of a sitcom stage, and the reason for their fighting is somehow ignored or forgotten. Staged as a musical, refined and witty, «Lamento» meditates on how pop culture, slowly but surely, is colonising our souls.»»
Rebecca De Pas, Int. Filmfestival Rotterdam
«Lamento» (2025): Jannik Giger & Demian Wohler (Concept/Direction), Demian Wohler (Set-Design), Jannik Giger (Composition), Ramon Giger (DOP), Jessie Serrano (Everything else)

Alicja Pilarczyk «Córka Kurpli»
«Since you’re born society tries to fit you in a certain script. As a traditionally trained violinist I faced expectations of everyone, starting from my father, whose dream was that I become a solo violin player, to my teachers who wanted me to be a leader of an orchestra. I’m neither. I built a pyramid of all the boxes to see what’s behind the horizon.»

Stanislas Pili «TRAMA»
A sorcerer becomes ensnared in a spell of his own creation. Caught in a whirlwind of despair and madness, he struggles in vain to break free. In the music theatre piece «TRAMA» (2001) by Giorgio Battistelli (*1953), the narrative unfolds entirely through sound: percussive gestures and onomatopoeic vocal expressions replace traditional language. Voice and percussion merge into a physical and vocal performance that evokes a state of emotional tension and inner conflict.

Marie Delprat «Ethereal Realms revisited»
For this concert, Marie Delprat revisits the music from her project «Ethereal Realms», combining elements of baroque opera with electronic sounds like ambient, glitch, and trance. She will perform the final part of the piece, Act III — a section built around distortion, falling harmonic progressions, and inspired by the early music form of the chaconne. This solo live set focuses on the composition itself, presented without the visual or theatrical aspects of the original performance.

João Carlos Pacheco «SHH #1»
Close your eyes and enjoy the show! «SHH #1» from Yiran Zhao is a short solo piece about 3 and half minutes, for no instrument but an audience member’s head. Even though the performer can’t hear the piece as they play, all movement details are explicitly written in the score. It is therefore not an improvisation but a carefully crafted soundscape on the audience member’s head. The performer can only play through what they feel on the hands/fingers. No audience member in the vicinity of the performance can hear it as well, so, for the single audience member who is experiencing the piece, it is absolutely a private play just for them, and they can not only hear it, but especially also feel it.

Chloé Bieri «Interface»
This performance is an excerpt from the upcoming performance «Interface». This new piece is inspired by the naturalist Anna Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717) who dedicated her life to exploring the animal world and its many metamorphoses. She was the first to discover that the caterpillar and the butterfly are one and the same animal. «Interface» is an invitation to reconsider our connections, our boundaries, and our place within the animal kingdom. All sounds are derived from nature and animal frequencies, serving as raw material for transformation.

Lukas Huber «Bad Wellness»
Bad Wellness (Lukas Huber (Drums) & Yanik Soland (Bass)) have tried (almost) everything: Hamams, banjas, ganjo, Sentōs, MIR, log, smoke, earth, cave and tunnel saunas, horseshoe therapy, infinity pools, aromatherapy (angelica root - organic -, forest magic, Atlas cedar - not organic), Arf, underwater pressure jet massages, UFO, Jacuzzis etc.

Andreas Eduardo Frank «DJ-Set»
